No matter what you do, you will have many great memories to take home from your Varna beach vacation. Here is some information and suggestions about the area:
In recent years, Varna has developed into a kind of urban resort along the Black Sea coast. The city's peculiar sea charm is sublime and moving. Ancient, medieval, renaissance and modern cultures mingle and coexist throughout the city.
Varna certainly boasts the best suburban beach in the country. The beach is long and seedy, and lined with cafes and bars. Some of the best Bulgarian restaurants along the Black Sea coast can be found in Varna.

A great starting point for a casual stroll in the city is the opera house passing through the city center and visiting the Roman fortress wall and Round Tower, the Cathedral of the Assumption, Old Clock Tower, the seaside park. The 19th century Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin is an imposing landmark, which contains a finely carved iconostasis and bishop's throne, some interesting murals and stained glass. The 2nd century thermae are the remains of the largest Roman public building in Bulgaria. The Seaside Park stretches for about 8 km and is apparently the largest of its kind in Europe. Easily accessible from the city center, it’s bursting with people and festivals in summer. It houses various museums including one on Natural History, a Planetarium, zoo and aquarium. The most important museum in Varna is, however, the Archaeological museum which shows 100,000 objects housed in 39 rooms along two massive floors. The highlights are perhaps the 6000-year-old gold and copper objects, which are reputedly the oldest of their kind in the world.
Situated in the sea garden is also the Dolphinarium- the only one of its kind in the Balkans. Inside, the whole family can enjoy the unique Dolphin show covering acrobatics, balance, and music and dolphin dances.
Finally do not forget the renowned Varna Summer Festival featuring opera, ballet, choral, jazz and folklore music.
There are also many places of interest outside the city of Varna. Further north the city is situated the Euxinograd Palace, built as a royal summer residence in 1882. The palace and its wonderfully kept formal gardens resemble a French chateau.
You can find a lot of attractions and enjoy great moments in the three resorts near Varna – St. Constantine and Elena, Golden Sands and Albena.

Sts. Constantine and Elena is a small beach resort about 8 km northeast of Varna. It is less commercial than other resorts and quieter because of the lack of roads. It is popular with its mineral springs and health complexes.
Further up from St. Constantine and Elena is situated the largest resort, Golden Sands. Its four kilometre beach slopes gently into water, which has no dangerous currents. There is a wealth of sporting and other facilities available, all very moderately priced. Water-skiing, wind-surfing, tennis, volleyball, mini-golf and croquet can fill the visitor's day, and a choice of restaurants, bars, discos and night-clubs provide evening entertainment. On the way to Golden Sands you can take a moment to visit the Aladja Monastery. Here the monks' cells and rooms were hewn out of the soft white limestone cliff.
At about 25 km north of Varna is the resort of Albena. It has modern architecture and a youthful image. Its seven kilometre beach offers the same wide range of sporting facilities as Golden Sands, and there is a good selection of restaurants, folk taverns and other evening entertainments.

Other site of interest north to the city of Varna is the picturesque old town of Balchik huddled below weathered white chalk bluffs. The most popular attraction here is the Quiet Nest palace, tile former summer residence of Queen Marie of Romania, and its famous gardens of more than 35 ha. North of Balchik the coast is virtually untouched by tourism, the road passes through Kavarna and a minor road leads to Cape Kaliakra, with its prominent red cliffs rising 60 metres above the sea.
